Aston Martin DB5

The Aston Martin DB5 was released in 1963 to replace the sometimes troublesome, Touring-styled DB4 model that began in 1958. The most famous car from Aston Martin, through the model's appearance in the James Bond film Goldfinger. The DB5 was double the price of the Jaguar E-Type.

The DB5 was an near identical evolution of the DB4 Series 5 Vantage. The model introduced the 4.0L six-cylinder engine, to replace the 3.7L unit, and had the option of the 5-speed transmission.

The majority of the 1018 DB5's sold in its two years available, were of the beautiful coupe bodystyle, with the DB5 also being available in the Volante convertible style, and the rare shooting-brake estate, 12 of which were made. A Vantage model was offered, where the engines were tuned, 65 of which were made

James Bond

The silver birch Aston Martin DB5 is the most famous of all the James Bond cars. It is seen in Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), Goldeneye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), and only a keen eye could see it in The World Is Not Enough (1999). In the Connery films, it was used as a Q-Branch car, filled with all the extras, but in the later Brosnan & Craig films, it appears to be Bond's private vehicle.
The number plate of the vehicles used was BMT 216A (Connery) and BMT 214A (Brosnan)
