Twenty | Rapide |
Aston Martin show cars, are pretty rare,
but the AMV8 Vantage was the star of the 2003 Detroit Motor Show.
This concept will be the basis for Aston Martins new Porsche 911
competitor and should be a best seller for Aston Martin.
The styling is the work of Henrik Fisker, Head of Design at Aston
Martin-Lagonda; It shares a family resemblance with the bigger Vanquish.
The AMV8 Vantage is a completely new car based around a bonded-alloy
platform, known as the VH (vertical/horizontal) platform.
The engine is a new 'front-mid' mounted 4.3 litre V8. Power output
of around 276kW. It should exceed 270km/h and a 0-100km/h acceleration
time of 4.5sec.

Designed by Italian Design house, Italdesign (Giorgetto and Giugiaro),
the car was supposed to give a glimpse of an Aston Martin spyder
in the year 2020. This car was displayed at the 2001 Geneva Salon
L'Auto.
Powered by a front mounted, modified version of the 6 litre V12
from the DB7 Vantage (the car which it is based on), said to produce
373kW. Dispite its appearances, it is not a strict 2 seater, as
the rear bulkhead can be removed to provide seating for two, although
cramped.
